Turtleneck outfits: 10 looks we're wearing on repeat this season
There are few pieces more infinitely versatile than a turtleneck, and yet, it is easy to fall into sartorial monotony. Let it be known, there is nothing wrong with throwing on the high-necked wardrobe staple over a pair of well-loved jeans, but variation is key.
Not all turtlenecks are created equal – from slim-fit neoprene bodysuits and lighter weight ribbed layers, to sumptuous cashmeres and chunky knits.
What should you not wear with a turtleneck?
Balance is key. If you're rocking a tight-fitting turtleneck, avoid skinny jeans and leggings. Not only have Gen-Z vehemently vetoed them (skinnies that is, leggings are still safe for the time being), but otherwise your silhouette will be solely figure-hugging which can feel a bit dated.
Another consideration is the weight of the fabric. Lighter, sheer turtlenecks work extremely well over lace bralettes, but otherwise tight-fit styles are best styled as a base layer under shirts, bouclé jackets and blazers. Alternatively, a turtleneck cable-knit sweater vest would look great over a statement blouse with voluminous sleeves.

How do you wear a turtleneck with jeans?

There is nothing worse than a turtleneck that bunches up at your flanks when you try to tuck it in. For this reason, we love a tight-fit piece under high-waisted flares or an oversized knit, untucked and draped over a mini skirt with sheer tights and knee-high boots.
If you're in the mood for something more casual, team a neutral turtleneck alongside cool-girl combats or low-waisted baggy jeans.
